Covercrop
Database
LEXSYS
(Legume EXpert SYStem) is a computerized decision-support
tool for selecting herbaceous legumes, green manures
or covercrops. It was conceived and developed by researchers
in West and Central Africa. LEXSYS consists of a database
of 123 herbaceous legumes and a programme that allows
searching the database using a set of selection criteria.
Detailed information on any selected species can be
viewed or printed. LEXSYS combines the knowledge of
the users about the target agricultural system, with
the information stored in the database, to give a
short list of legumes that might be appropriate and
should be tested.
